There was no broadside cricket at the weekend, but last Thursday, Te Puke hosted Mount Maunganui in the Venture Developments broadside T20 competition.
Batting first, Mount Maunganui scored 124 runs for five wickets after 20 overs.
Te Puke’s wicket-takers were co-captain Iman Nahal, Ben Wyver, Tasman Carson and Michael Rowland (2).
Opener Wyvern started to respond with a whimper and a roar and played a quickfire innings of 28 runs off 13 balls with the help of three fours and two sixes.

Te Puke chased the Mount total, with Stephen Crossan and Mikaere Leaf contributing 31 not out and 26 not out respectively.
Elsewhere in the twilight round, Generation Homes Lake Taupo, who currently sit at the top of the standings, recorded a massive 61-run win over Sanford Wallabies Central Indians. The Taupo team reached 147 for seven, with Archie Harrison leading the team with an unbeaten 55.
Central Indians were bowled out for only 86 runs, with Archie Harrison and Zac Forster returning identical figures of three wickets for 15 runs each.
Eves Realty Greerton posted the highest score of the seventh round against Craigs Investment Partners Tauranga Boys’ College. Tim Clarke was in great form and scored 71 not out from 42 balls as Greerton reached 181/5. Tauranga Boys scored 128/7 in their 20 overs to give Greerton a 51-run win.

Element IMF Cadets also had a successful run chase against Papamoa and reached their target with nine balls to spare.
